James “The Strabanimal” Gallagher predicts he will continue his first round submission streak tonight at Bellator 158.
Gallagher will face Mike Cutting tonight in Bellator’s star studded main card, which includes Matt Mitrione, Paul Daley and Michael “Venom” Page.
The Strabanimal was very precise and bullish about his plans in tonight’s event in London and he believes that he is meant to win this fight and his British foe simply isn’t.
He said: “He’s the same as everyone else, there’s a reason he’s not up here talking to media and I am. They probably don’t want to look at his big, ugly head, but I will try to rearrange his face and fix that big ugly head of his for him. I’ll do my best, it may not come out correct, but I’ll try and rearrange it for him.”
This will be Gallagher’s first Bellator event since signing and he’s planning on putting on a show, as he kicks off the main card.
He admits he was initially shocked at Bellator’s generous contract offer considering how few professional fights he has had.
But he insists the pressure of the big event won’t get to him at all, and he will embrace every moment because he believes it’s his time to dominate.
He said: “I knew Bellator were interested in me, and they came to watch one of my fights. And I did what I usually do, submitted the guy in the first round. Then the next morning John Kavanagh came in and said “look at your emails” and in my inbox was a contract and I couldn’t believe what they were offering me, considering how many fights I had had. I had to accept it, I was thinking “What’s going on?”
“Now I’m just enjoying it all, rolling with it, and this is where I deserve to be,” he added.”
Gallagher’s opponent is also a submission specialist, which could lead to an interesting tussle should the fight go to the ground.
But the Irishman believes that he is operating on another level and made a bold prediction for his fight tonight.
“Expect a cool, calm, clinical finish on Saturday. I see myself winning by submission in the first round,” he said. “There’s a reason he was not in that press conference and I was. I deserve to be here and I will show why on Saturday.”
